Courtney is a born and bred Virginian, who earned her bachelors degree in Strategic Communication and Sociology as an Ohio State Buckeye before settling in Los Angeles. Always wanting to entertain, Courtney was drawn to acting, singing and dancing at a young age. Creative projects have always interested her. From booking concerts for the student body at OSU to creating a video review website, ThisIsColumbus.com, about the city of Columbus,OH and their local happy hours, entrepreneurs and brewery's. Her better judgement told her to not pursue acting but she quickly ignored it and with a U-Haul and a head full of dreams she made her way to the west coast.
Courtney has completed level 401 at Upright Citizen's Brigade and studied the Breathe technique at Krater Studios with Jenn Krater for over a year. Courtney also studied how to mix the craft of acting with business sensibility at the Creative Artists Lab helping her develop her writings into a 12-episode comedic web series called Re-Casting Kyle. As a proud member of Women in Film she is currently enjoying their mentorship program with her mentors at NBC.
Courtney is currently performing stand-up comedy 5-6 nights a week ranging from Booked shows, open mics and the Roast Battle at The World Famous Comedy Store. Her first appearance was at the world renowned, Hollywood Improv, with upcoming shows this summer at The World Famous Comedy Store on Sunset Boulevard, Flappers and various venues. She is also dedicated to her comedy podcast, Hot Chicks Aren't Funny with Courtney Banks, where she interviews a new comedian, actor or whom ever else strikes her interest... one random guy from Tinder and her parents... which can be found on iTunes, Stitcher and IHeartRadio!
Totally fascinated by people and their quirks, so she may be the woman oddly staring at you, taking notes and laughing to herself. Courtney may also be seen wearing head-to-toe black, belly laughing at her own jokes or getting another tattoo.
