Matt Portman got his start in stand up comedy when, as a young intern at The Laugh Factory, Hollywood, owner Jamie Masada encouraged him to try his first open mic. Since then he has been an active member of the Los Angeles stand up community, performing at clubs, bars and indie nights all over town as well as in New York, Chicago, San Diego, and DC. He also produces his own acclaimed monthly comedy show called "Matt Portman's Bar Mitzvah." Matt is also an avid improviser studying with The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and performing all over LA with his musical improv team Hug Bear and his improv boy-band Power Up!
