Alex Powers
Alex Powers is an American stand-up comedian, actress, and writer from Baltimore, MD. As a comic, she has been described as a "pervy, middle-aged man trapped in the body of a hot lesbian." Her stand-up has been characterized as edgy, unpredictable, and remarkably smart.
She hilariously uses irony in addressing issues of racism, sexism, and other social turmoils. Much of her material focuses on life as a lesbian and the hysterical inner workings of her romantic relationships. Her writing style is a combination of quick punchlines and dry deliveries. She has generated a routine that is heavy on sharp one-liners and laced with well crafted storytelling. People always mistake her for Morgan Murphy (because of the hair) but Alex is far less dry. In fact, Alex is usually wet.
Alex made her first appearance on stage in December 2007, and has since opened regularly for Carlos Mencia (HBO, Comedy Central) and Pablo Francisco (MADtv, The Tonight Show) in comedy clubs all over North America. Alex has also performed with Russell Peters, Bobby Lee, Brad Williams, Steve Byrne, Maria Bamford, and Bobcat Goldthwait to name a few. She was a finalist for the 2016 Martin Grant and, in 2017, she appeared on season 3 of Laughs (FOX, Hulu) in a total of two episodes.
Alex moved to Los Angeles, CA in 2012 and now resides there with her dog and two cats. She has starred in several short films and web series while performing stand-up all over the United States.
