Joey Garza
Joey Garza is a stand-up comedian from a beach suburb of Los Angeles, Ca. He started doing stand-up in the mid 90’s because his acting coach told him he should take another path, because the market for Hispanic actors was very small. Seeing that he never thought about stand-up, he said, “What the hell,” and did just that. Joey then dropped out of the comedy circuit because he fell in love, chased his girl and ended up alone. Now he’s unstoppable.
Joey has performed at many top comedy clubs, from LA, San Diego, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Miami, including The World Famous Comedy Store and The Improv. He won the Beach City Comedy Festival 2003 and the Ivan Markota Award for his comedy writing.
Joey’s film credits include Her Ruling (official selection at the 2013 ARPA International Film Festival), Desert Rain (nominated at the Boston Film Festival), Boulevard Gangs I and II, and Palm Springs which he starred in, wrote and produced.
The one thing that is a constant comment among fans is that Joey performs like he is telling you a funny story at a bar. Like he is one of the guys busting your chops or talking about his unique family, women, booze, horse racing or love. He is your best friend just sharing his life, that somehow sounds a lot like yours….cheers.
